SSG - Joliet Unions took to the streets today in an effort to protect prevailing wage. At 11:00 am Tuesday, June 25th 2019 muitiple trucks pulled up to Thomas Jefferson Elementary School located at 2651 Glenwood Ave, Joliet, IL.
Soon after out came the well know rats and and union officials. But the bigger question is why? Well according to Greg Simpson, Jr , 25 of Joliet a local union supporter. " The issue is, the contractor won a prevaling wage contract and they cannot provide proof that they are paying prevaling wage". This issue continues to trouble locals and union.
"Taxpayers pay extra to the district to ensure the job is done right" said Simpson.
South Surbaban Gazzette staff reached out to the school district this evning and have yet to respond to the request for comment. As the story progresses we will continue to cover it and keep our readers informed.
