The Andrew T-Bolts punched their ticket to the IHSA state playoffs for the third consecutive year with a 33-21 win at home over the LIncoln-Way Central Knights Friday night in the South Suburban Gazette Game of the Week to clinch the SWSC Conference title.
The T-Bolts and Knights were scoreless after the 1st Quarter when the T-Bolts took a 7-0 after a 1 yard TD run by Trevor Griffin. The Knights capped an 80 yard drive with a 1 yard TD run of their own by QB Turner Doran just before halftime to tie the game 7-7.
Andrew took the lead for good when John Bickell took the opening kickoff of the 2nd Half 95 yards for a Touchdown and a 14-7 lead. Trevor Griffin scored his second touchdown of the night with a 12 yard TD run. The 2 point conversion failed and the T-Bolts lead 20-7.
Lincoln-Way Central QB Turner Doran answered again with a 26 yard TD pass to cut the Andrew advantage to 20-14. Andrew would cap a long drive with a 2 yard TD run to go ahead 26-14 with 1:37 remaining in the game.
Noah O'Connor padded the T-Bolts lead with a Pick 6 interception for a touchdown and a 33-14 lead. The Knights would score before time expired to close the gap to 33-21. Andrew has won the SWSC Red Conference for the third straight year.
