Orland Township to host 8th Annual Pet-Palooza on Sept 14

Orland Township Supervisor Paul O'Grady will host the 8th Annual Orland Township Pet-Palooza this Saturday, September 14th from Noon-3pm at the Orland Township grounds, 14807 South Ravinia in Orland Park.
Residents and their pets are invited to a family friendly, fun-filled afternoon of activities, events, and information centering around their pets.
Pet-Palooza will feature over sixty vendors ranging from pet boutiques and animal hospitals to rescue organizations with adoptable pets on-site, to local restaurants with samples of their cuisine.
The nearly block-long Kids Zone will include several inflatable bounce houses, train
rides, games and prizes. And while at Pet-Palooza, kids will have the opportunity to
meet some of their favorite characters including Spiderman, Woody and Jessie (Toy
Story), Simba and Rafiki (The Lion King), Chase and Skye (Paw Patrol), and princesses
Jasmine and Ariel.
The popular pet contests will return where attendees will have a chance to show off
their pet’s talents and win prizes. Special guest NBC Chicago Meteorologist Andy Avalos
will emcee the pet contests, which will include Best Dressed, Best Trick, Best Voice,
Bobbing for Hot Dogs, Fast Finish (quickest to eat peanut butter off a stick) and Quick Sit
(doggie version of musical chairs). Those interested in participating in a contest will be
able to sign up at the main tent after entering Pet-Palooza.
Think you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Ask questions and get tips from an
American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator and professional
trainer at Fido’s Fun Zone. Games and activities will be set up for owners to engage
their dogs and test their skills.
Guests should enter Pet-Palooza at the drive way just north of the Township building.
Admission to Pet-Palooza is free, however a donation of a 5-pound bag of pet food or a
cash donation to the Orland Township Pet Pantry is strongly encouraged and greatly
appreciated.
“I invite residents to join us at Pet-Palooza and check out all that is available for their
pets in the area,” said Supervisor O’Grady. “I think many will be very pleasantly
surprised at how many pet friendly businesses we actually have in our area.”
Owners are reminded that well-behaved pets are welcome to attend. All pets must have
up-to-date vaccinations, wear proper tags and be on a leash no longer than six feet. Rest
areas for pets that are shaded and have water bowls and small pools will be set up on-
site. Doggie-doo-doo bags will also be available throughout Pet-Palooza for owners to
clean up any ‘accidents’ that occur.
All proceeds from Pet-Palooza will benefit the Orland Township Pet Pantry, “Crashy’s
Closet,” which was founded by Supervisor O’Grady and his wife, and named for a
beloved O’Grady family rescue cat. For more information on Pet-Palooza, visit the
Township website orlandtownship.org or call (708) 403-4222.
