Orland Township Republican Committeeman Elizabeth “Liz” Doody Gorman, and entire Executive Board of the Republican Organization of Orland Township (ROOT) have denounced the candidacy of Arthur Jones, who has again submitted his candidacy in the Republican primary for Representative in Congress for the 3rd Congressional District of Illinois.
“Arthur Jones has for decades held repugnant views that have no place in civil society, and have never had a place in the Republican Party,” said Doody Gorman. “I urge every Orland Township resident to reject Arthur Jones’s candidacy in the March 17th primary.”
Orland Park Village Trustee Jim Dodge joined Doody Gorman in rejecting Jones’s congressional bid. “Nazis represent the darkest chapter in all of human history. Voters in this district need to be aware of Mr. Jones’s views and send a clear message by voting against him,” Dodge said.
Jones has been active Nazi sympathizer since the 1970s and has, on several occasions, filed to run for various public offices with no success. In 2018, Jones was the only candidate to file in the Republican primary for Representative in Congress from the 3rd District of Illinois.
The 3rd Congressional District of Illinois includes the southwest side of Chicago, west and southwest Cook County suburbs, and a portion of Will County.
The 2020 Illinois primary will be held Tuesday, March 17th.
